Nothing Phone 2a to launch without Glyph interface, new leak suggests

Nothing, the company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei is gearing up to launch its third smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2a, which is expected to be a more affordable alternative to the flagship Nothing Phone 2. However, a new leak has revealed that the Phone 2a may have a surprising design omission that could disappoint some fans of the brand.

According to an image leaked the Phone 2a will have a transparent back panel that shows the internal components of the device, similar to the previous Nothing Phone 1 and 2. However, unlike its predecessors, the Phone 2a will not feature the Glyph interface, which is a unique feature that uses LEDs and sensors to create a dynamic and interactive display on the back of the phone.

The Glyph interface allows users to customize the color, pattern, and animation of the LED lights, as well as use them for notifications, gestures, and gaming. The feature was one of the main selling points of the Nothing Phone 1 and 2 and was praised by critics and users alike for its innovation and aesthetics.

The leaked image also shows that the Phone 2a will have a dual camera setup on the top left corner of the back panel, instead of the center as seen in the previous models. The camera module is expected to house two 50MP sensors, which could offer decent performance for a mid-range device. The image also reveals that the Phone 2a will not have a wireless charging coil, which suggests that it will not support wireless charging.

The Phone (2a) is rumored to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 30W fast charging. The phone is expected to cost around $400/€400, making it a competitive option in the mid-range segment.

The Phone 2a is likely to launch in the first half of 2024, as Pei has previously hinted that the company will release a new phone every six months. Nothing has not officially confirmed the existence or the specifications of the Phone 2a yet, so we will have to wait for more details and announcements from the company.
