Samsung’s Galaxy AI, the new suite of AI-powered features that debuted with the Galaxy S24 series, has been praised for its innovative and useful functions, such as Circle to Search, Live Translate, Note Assist, and more. However, many users are wondering what will happen to Galaxy AI after 2025, when it is supposed to stop being free.
Samsung’s mobile chief, T.M. Roh, recently spoke to ET Telecom and revealed that the company has not yet decided on the pricing model for Galaxy AI after 2025. He said that the company will consider the various needs and preferences of customers for mobile AI, and hinted at the possibility of offering more advanced AI features for paid subscribers.
“According to our analysis, there are various needs for mobile AI. So, there will be consumers who will be satisfied with using the AI capabilities for free. Then there could also be customers who wish for even more powerful AI capabilities and even pay for them. So, in the future decision-making, we will take all these factors into consideration,” Roh said.
Roh also said that the company plans to roll out Galaxy AI to over 100 million devices worldwide this year, including older Galaxy flagships, such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. He also suggested that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will come with Galaxy AI features.
Galaxy AI is currently free for all users until the end of 2025, but the future of the service remains uncertain. Samsung will likely announce more details about its plans for Galaxy AI as the deadline approaches. Until then, users can enjoy the benefits of Galaxy AI without worrying about the cost.
